Consider the algebraic planar curves of degree d passing through several fixed points in general position with given multiplicities. The defining polynomials of such curves (plus {0}) form a linear space. What is the dimension of this linear space? The answer may be different from our naive guess.
The content of this talk is from Rick Miranda's paper Linear Systems of Plane Curves.
Refreshments will be served in the lounge at 4:00 PM.
