Interpreting an algebraically closed field within an abstract structure allows one to import geometric notions such as (Krull) dimension into the study of that structure. Classical examples of this include triangular matrix groups which interpret the complex field. We discuss the effects of interpretability on automorphism groups, the background goal being the encoding of the algebraic fundamental group of hyperbolic curves over number fields.
