Abstract: Martin's Maximum is a strengthening of the Baire Category Theorem which can be used to supplement ZFC. It asserts that a broad class of compact spaces cannot be covered by aleph 1 many nowhere dense sets. I'll discuss some of the diverse consequences of this axiom ranging from algebra to analysis to topology.
