Congratulations to Shruthi Sridhar ’18
Shruthi Sridhar ’18 was selected as Honorable Mention for the Alice T. Schafer Prize of the Association for Women in Mathematics!
The Alice T. Schafer Prize is named for the former President of the AWM who made an outstanding effort over many years in support of women in mathematics. The award solicitation seeks nominations that include, but are not limited to
* quality of performance in advanced mathematics courses and special programs
* demonstration of real interest in mathematics * ability for independent work in mathematics
* performance in mathematical competitions at the local or national level, if any
Shruthi has done research projects over three summers in combinatorics, hyperbolic knot groups and Schur functions. She will have completed 8 graduate classes when she earns her degree this spring and won an Outstanding Presentation Award at Mathfest 2016 for her talk “The Geometry of Knots”. Congratulations Shruthi!
