A Hamiltonian stationary Lagrangian manifold is a critical point of the volume functional under Hamiltonian variations. It is locally determined by fourth order elliptic equations. We show that any $C^1$ Hamiltonian stationary Lagrangian manifold is smooth. This is joint work with Micah Warren.
