Symplectic capacities arise from the celebrated Gromov’s Nonsqueezing Theorem, which confirms that there is some rigidity phenomenon behind symplectic embeddings. In this talk, we will discuss the history of Gromov’s Nonsqueezing Theorem, ideas of its proof, and introduce various symplectic capacities along with lots of examples.
Refreshments will be served in the lounge at 4:00 PM.
