We use representation theory to derive atomic decompositions for Bergman spaces. This generalizes work published by Coifman and Rochberg in 1980. We present a very general framework called coorbit theory, which applies to the wavelet transform (Besov spaces) as well as the newly discovered shearlet transform. In this talk we will mostly be concerned with Bergman spaces.
