Since the comprehensive introduction of calibrated geometries in the seminal paper of Harvey and Lawson, G2-structures have been of particular interest to mathematicians. The first half of our journey will be a quick introduction to the calibrations, calibrated geometries and manifolds with special holonomy. The second half of the talk is devoted to a more special structure, namely G2-manifolds and corresponding special geometries.
