Ramsey theory

Tuesday, March 11, 2014 - 4:30pm
Malott 406

I will give a survey of some less known results in Ramsey Theory. We will talk about partitions of structures such as ordered sets, products of perfect trees and finite subsets of $\mathbb{N}$. I will also present a partition theorem for a structure whose objects look like the ones in the picture, and mention how this combinatorial result is related to the stabilization of Lipschitz functions defined on the sphere of $c_0$, the Banach space of sequences of reals with the supremum norm.

Refreshments will be served in the lounge at 4:00 PM.
