I will begin with a brief introduction to cube complexes and their role in the theory of nonpositively curved groups. I will then present a new construction of a finitely presented non-hyperbolic subgroup of a hyperbolic group. (This involves constructing a certain kind of cube complex.) The talk will be directed towards students who are new to this topic.
