In this talk we will be concerned with the coarse geometry of Polish groups. In particular, given a short exact sequence of Polish groups, we characterize when the metrizability of the respective left-coarse structures of the kernel group and quotient group implies the metrizability of the left-coarse structure of the middle group. The characterization will be presented in terms of the coarse structure that the middle group induces on the quotient group when seen as a homogeneous space. We will also give examples, both positive and negative, of the metrizability of the left-coarse structure of the middle group and we will compare our discussion of coarse structures with the analogous situation for left-uniform structures.
